Privacy Policy

Overview

csvjson.tools is a browser-based data conversion and utility service. The vast majority of our tools — JSON ↔ CSV, formatting, validation, flattening, and more — run entirely in your browser. Your files and pasted data are processed locally and are never transmitted to our servers or stored anywhere.

This policy explains what limited information we do collect (mainly anonymous analytics), how we use it, and what choices you have.

Information We Collect

Analytics data

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. This collects anonymous data such as pages visited, time on page, browser type, operating system, and general geographic region (country or city level). It does not include any content you paste into the tools. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Payment information

If you purchase a premium plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a confirmation of payment and a customer ID, but we never see or store your full card number, CVV, or billing address. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data.

Your data (files and pasted content)

The content you paste or upload into our tools is processed client-side in your browser and is never sent to our servers, never logged, and never stored. We have no access to it.

A small subset of advanced conversions may optionally use a server-side API for processing. When this occurs, data is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection, used only to perform the requested conversion, and immediately discarded — it is not logged, stored, or shared.

Account information

The core tools require no account or sign-up. If you create an account for premium features, we store your email address and subscription status. We do not sell this information.

Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

• Analytics — Google Analytics sets cookies (e.g. _ga, _gid) to distinguish users and track session activity anonymously.
• Preferences — We may store UI preferences (e.g. selected delimiter, indent size) in localStorage so your settings persist between visits. This data stays entirely on your device.
• Authentication — If you have an account, a session cookie keeps you signed in.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect the functionality of the tools.

How We Use Your Information

• To operate and improve the site based on anonymous usage patterns
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To send transactional emails (receipts, subscription confirmations)
• To respond to support requests you initiate

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.

Third-Party Services

Data Retention

Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics default settings (up to 26 months). Account data is retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion, then permanently removed. Payment records are retained as required by law (typically 7 years for tax purposes).

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. This applies to residents of the EU (GDPR), California (CCPA), and other jurisdictions with similar laws.

Because we collect minimal personal data and no tool content, most requests can be fulfilled by simply deleting your account (if you have one). To make a request or ask any question, email us at privacy@csvjson.tools.

Children

This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
